About Silverdale - Nottingham’s Premier Coach and Bus Hire
Our Story
The 1970's
In the 1960’s, John and Maureen Doherty operated vehicles carrying workers to various power stations and also for school runs in the local area. The work for Rushcliffe School became an important part of the business and still continues. Private Hire work was also taken when the vehicles returned from the power station - taking passengers to local darts matches being one lucrative venture. This all led to the foundation of the Silverdale business in 1977.
The name 'Silverdale' came from the part of Nottingham where the business was based. Later that same year the business of Johnson, Ruddington (Ruddington Private Hire) became part of the company. Another large acquisition was Euroline Tours in later years. In the early 1990’s their son Shaun joined the business. |
Up to Date
Silverdale became well established in the contract, private hire and tours markets and developed a strong reputation with tour operators. Visitors from overseas became a key part of the business and Silverdale coaches worked out of Heathrow and Gatwick airports with extended UK tours.
